Posted by Team2nd | Posted in Fundations Help | Posted on September 28, 2015

This week are learning the 5 closed syllabel exceptions: ind, ild, old, olt, ost. They are an exception to the closed syllable type because the vowel sound is long. The vowel should be marked with a macron (long line above the vowel). The word/syllable should be scooped underneath and marked with C with an X over it, symbolizing closed syllable exception. Watch the video below to clarify.

Students should scoop the syllable and mark with a c , for closed.

This past week we have been studying the non-fiction genre of Biographies. Each student chose a famous American to research. They completed a graphic organizer and then created a PicCollage. Those who finished early took the PicCollage and app smashed it into ThingLink for a multimedia presentation.

Mrs. Rumberger’s 2nd grade math class created a trailer about 2-digit addition using the iMovie app. After learning how to add two digit numbers with regrouping, the students were challenged to create an iTrailer that demonstrated the steps to 2-digit addition with regrouping. The students worked in pairs to complete the trailer. Fabulous work 2nd grade!
